Recycle Polyester Lycra Fabric Recycled polyester is certified as genuine according to the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) and can be used for a wide range of certifications. OEKO-TEX, for example, has its own certification for the use of recycle polyester in clothing and other products. Lycra may come as a surprise, but it is actually a trademarked name for Invista and falls under the generic name "Spandex." It is mainly made of polyester and is very popular among the sewing community as it is a great fabric for leggings and sports bras. Ballet outfits and cycling clothing, which are made with a high proportion of this fabric, are usually quite expensive. For this reason, garments containing a high proportion of elastane must be bought with garments with more Lycra, such as ballet suits or cycling clothing made of high-percentage fabric.
